Severe Weather Prep Checklist

Whenever severe weather season rolls around—hail, high winds, heavy rain—most of us know it's coming. Then we don't think much about it until something actually happens.

A little prep now really does save headaches later. Nothing complicated. Just a few things worth doing:

• Your roof and gutters. Loose shingles and clogged gutters start small but get expensive fast. Take a walk around your place and look things over. If something seems off, it's worth a quick call before the weather does the damage for you.
• A go-bag ready to grab. Water, a few days of food, a flashlight, phone charger, and copies of important documents in a waterproof bag. That's it. Having it packed means one less thing to scramble for when you need it.
• Know your evacuation routes. If you're in a flood-prone or high-wind area, look up your local routes on a calm day. Way better than trying to figure it out in the middle of things.

A review of your overall protection. If you've made improvements to your home or added anything of value lately, it's worth checking in on your coverage to make sure everything aligns with where you stand.
